SEVEN WONDERS OF THE VALLEYS – TRACES OF THE PAST – VOTE
Time to vote!
Now we have come to our last category, “Traces of the past” which will conclude the voting period for the Seven Wonders of Dalarna. Here you will find fäbod culture, Viking-era burial grounds on Sollerön, one of Sweden’s oldest mines, now filled with turquoise water, remains of Sweden’s northernmost monastery, hunting ground graves with interesting finds in beautiful locations, Europe’s largest millstone quarry, a fortification from the 17th century, a characteristic mountain with a hunting pit system, desert cemeteries that tell the story of the Swede Finns, and remains of impressive buildings and an entrepreneurial spirit that still lives on today. Welcome to cast your vote!
During the summer of 2020, we have conducted seven different polls, divided into seven categories. Every other week, we have invited everyone to participate and vote for the winner in the current category. We hope that we have been able to offer many new insights and knowledge about our beautiful landscape.
The Seven Wonders of Dalarna is a project that wants to collect and make visible what is beautiful, interesting, exciting, impressive, charming or just strange in our landscape. Everything that can be included under the (highly subjective) heading "wonders". Through the project, we want to engage the public, we want to find hidden gems, spread knowledge that is in danger of being lost, and expand Dalarna's tourist attractions.
The wonders can be things we see and use today, or things that existed in ancient times. They can be great ideas that never came to fruition, and exciting natural and cultural environments. They can also be cultural contributions, such as literature, music, art, food, traditions, inventions, customs and practices. Perhaps impressive efforts that ordinary people have achieved. Dalarna is fantastic, and the contributions are drawn from all over our beautiful landscape. Hope you are inspired for your next excursion in the area!
Voting continues until Tuesday, September 15th.
