The ideal forces are in the Summer Church!

In these times when non-profit forces are decreasing, it is gratifying to note that there is great interest in hosting and guiding the Summer Church on Sollerön.
On Palm Sunday, about 30 people were thanked for the summer of 2022 with pies and other treats. “It was a very nice time with lots of good laughs and entertainment from Karin and Bosse Wallin,” says Mats Lafvas, who coordinates the Summer Church.

"The summer church was originally called Vägkyrka and started here on Sollerön in 2004.
There are many Sollerö residents who have been guides to our beautiful church over the years.
This summer we will be open for 5 weeks between July 26 and July 28 every weekday between 11 am and 3 pm. The hosts work in two-hour shifts. The number of visitors varies. Last summer there were 733 visitors. Before the pandemic, the number of people interested in the church was just over 1,200.

As a guide, you will tell us about the church's interior and history. It was during the time of Gustaf III (1785) that the church was built. The parish Sofia Magdalena is named after Gustaf's wife and queen. The little church impresses visitors. There is also a statue of our local saint Malin. Some visit the church to sit down for a while for meditation. Others want to play the church organ. You can do what you feel like.

The visitors are mostly Swedes. Towards the end of the summer season, Germans and English also come and the guides get to test their language skills.
In mid-May we will be announcing the staffing schedule for this summer. If you are interested in joining the Guide team, please contact Mats Lafvas at 076 – 220 60 60.
