More openness in the library

by | Nov 2, 2020 | Sollerö Library

Sirpa Järlefors at Sollerö Library is open, as usual, Mondays 2 – 6 pm and Tuesdays 9 – 12 pm. But from now on, the library is also open on weekdays 9 – 6 pm! How does that fit together?

Yes, with a personal tag, you can read, borrow and return books even when the library is unmanned. You can pick up the tag from Sirpa when she is there.

The investment to create a “more open” library is possible through project grants from the Swedish Cultural Council and the government in the “Strengthening Libraries” initiative.

“In 2019 and up to today, we have borrowed about 6,000 books. With all the re-borrowings, the number is even higher, about 9,000,” says Sirpa. “Schoolchildren borrow a lot, and it’s mainly magic and spooky books.”
which are popular. We also offer activities for children, such as reading aloud. The latest was "The Reading Dog Love" and more are coming. For adults, detective stories are the most popular.

Welcome to a small, well-stocked library,” says Sirpa
