Now the Village Cottage can handle the pressure!

The latest project in Gesunda Village Cottage is a good example of the fact that nothing is impossible.

“We discovered that the floor in the apartment on the top floor of Bystugan was hanging from iron bars in the roof trusses,” says Stig Wass, who is driving the project. “That’s how they did it when they built in the past,” continues Stig. “Now we’re planning to renovate the apartments on the top floor and then we’ll have to find a different construction for the floor. We put our heads together, did load-bearing calculations and voila, the solution was a 6.5-meter-long steel beam weighing 350 kg!

The beam was custom-made to fit into the Village Cottage. One end rests in the brickwork while the other end of the beam rests on a new glulam beam that stands on the foundation. Now it holds and we can start renovating.
The beam was transported from Mora by tractor and then lifted by crane into the Village Cottage.
As support and protection for the lifting and assembly, we borrowed 50 pallets from a haulage company in Mora.

"Rome wasn't built in a day, this construction took 14 days with all the planning," says Stig enthusiastically.
“Revenue from the summer's motorhome parking spaces has financed the project. The rental income we will receive from the newly renovated apartments helps to secure the future of Bystugan,” concludes Stig, who pays tribute and thanks to voluntary efforts from, among others, Hasse Olsson, Bengt Swedberg and PA Hübinette. Masstugan has also contributed its knowledge to row the project to port.
