There are plenty of boulders and large stones in Swedish nature.
In the old farming community, many of these had their own centuries-old history that was retold in generation after generation. It is said that our ancestors knew about the power of certain stones and used them to cure diseases and restore health. It was a way for our ancestors to balance the body's energies.
No one knows how long “Botestenen” here at Selen has been in use, but probably from the Middle Ages. It may have been the last hope for those fleeing the Black Death. One side of the stone is smooth, one is rough, and the third side has two altars where you can place your hands. According to legend, the stone cures anger, anxiety, misfortune and disease.
