Seliträdberget

Modern forest fire monitoring in Sweden was established at the end of the 19th century in northern Dalarna. Sweden's first fire tower was erected at Pilkalampinoppi in Orsa Finnmark in 1899. A larger network of fire towers - Riksnätet - was established in 1940 to monitor Sweden's forests. At most, there were about 300 fire towers in Riksnätet. The role of fire towers was phased out and replaced by aerial firefighting around 1960. Most of the towers were demolished or fell into disrepair. In Bunkris in the municipality of Älvdalen there is a well-preserved fire tower right next to Route 70.

Here from the highest peak on Solleröskogen (597 masl) you have a fantastic view of miles of forests, sparkling lakes, ponds and streams. The terrain is hilly with many steep mountains and a rich flora and fauna. In clear weather you can see Sälenfjällen in the northwest, Orsa Finnmark in the north and Siljan in the east.

N.B! The fire tower is not in the best condition. Please be careful!

Since 2009 there is a wind farm with eight turbines on Seliträdberget and Skuruberg. Part of the electricity production goes to Sollerö parish. Since its inception, millions have been distributed to associations and projects in the parish.
