We can hear them on Radio Siljan almost every day with the hit song “When I was too young.” On a Tuesday evening, Solleröbladet visits the rehearsal room in the basement of the Parish House.
The name sounds like a Finest Scotch, where does it come from?
Well, it was actually Conny Bondeson who coined the name.
In our teens, when we were sitting in the bus shelter outside the church, Conny came by and said: “Sold's Finest sits here!” He probably thought that Sollerön's future was sitting there. Then when we had to come up with a name for the band, we took it.”
With sources of inspiration such as Eddie Medusa and Jerry Williams, the band started in the fall of 2013. The first gig was at Boggberget in Evertsberg followed by Pub 38 and then it has been rolling on. Borgafjäll and Dorotea in the north and Nyköping in the south are the furthest the band has played. Most of the gigs have been in Dalarna and around Siljan. For known reasons, there are no gigs right now, but the guys are rehearsing continuously and are looking forward to going out with the tour bus when the pandemic is over.
On www@soldsfinest.se you can see that the band's genre is Rock'n roll with elements of rockabilly from Solens Ö with a repertoire that appeals to all ages. The band consists of Alexander Eriksson on drums, Mattias Olsson, keyboard, Robin Särnebro, backing guitar, Kim Jansson, bass and Niklas Göransson guitar. They all sing. From the beginning, Böte Eriksson was also on harmonica.
Sold's Finest doesn't just do covers, they have around 20 of their own songs in their repertoire. "Fast i Grängesberg", "Uno-X-macken" and "Farväl min sommar" are some examples. The band has been on both Siljanstoppen and Dalatoppen and came second in P4 Nästa after Stiko Per.
